Ashley Cain and his partner Safiyya are devastated. Their daughter Azaylia died at just 8 months old, after a fierce battle with the disease. The dad and former footballer shared his pain with thousands of Instagram followers, who expressed their support on his latest post.

“I’m heartbroken,” wrote @mrashleycain this Monday, April 26, 2021. The day before (Sunday, April 25, 2021), the 30-year-old announced the death of his daughter. Azaylia passed away on April 24, taken by several tumors.

“You gave a purpose to my life, a smile to my face, you filled my heart with love and my soul with pride. I can’t put words to my sadness and pain, there are none to describe it. I love you with every ounce of my body and I already miss you so much,” Ashley Cain continued in the caption of a photo of her hand holding her baby’s. You made me a better man. You made me the person I always wanted to be. You taught me more in 8 months than I’ve learned in my entire life. I don’t know why you were taken from me and my heart aches in your absence.”

Ashley Cain continues her touching tribute: “But I promise that your name will live on. I will carry it across all oceans, on all roads, to the top of all mountains and across the globe. Your name will live on, your legacy will be remembered, and I will seek peace by living as your vessel to continue to inspire, strengthen, spread joy and save lives in your name, with your spirit, being your father, until we meet again.”

“You saved my life, truly. With my second chance, I promise you that yours will live on in our hearts, thoughts and prayers,” Ashley concludes. I am blessed, I am honored and I am privileged to be your father. I will relive the pain over and over again. Because what you have given me these 8 months will live with me for eternity. Azaylia Diamond Cain. Rest in peace princess. 10/08/2020 – 24/04/21.” In comments, Ashley received thousands of messages of condolences and support, a wave that was joined by Manchester City star footballer Raheem Sterling.

Through social media, Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee have documented their daughter Azaylia’s treatment. On April 8, they revealed that doctors at Birmingham Children’s Hospital had given the baby a life-threatening condition. Azaylia had tumors in her brain, kidneys, liver, lungs and spleen.
